Prepare your mind!
The content for Tech Track 2018 is tricky and open-ended.
There is no way we can accomplish the ultimate goal for our projects within 24 hours. For this reason, we expect you to soak in a lot of content and let your imagination flow. This may be just a beginning, and we are counting on you (or at least some of you) to help us see through with our concept.
The concept is spelled out in the basic information we wrote for our grant in the link to Spirit Stories above.
Through a generous grant from the Daniel Foundation we will be providing each participant in Tech Track with a “video brochure” (images above) capable of playing three separate short videos. This is fairly new technology, and we acquired these directly from a Chinese manufacturer in order to get the best price on a custom design to suit our needs.
Our ultimate goal is to offer some creative interpretations of the historic Shelby Iron Works by blending historical, current and imaginative content via mixed media. Some of you, who may be continuing on with “SAIL On!” will be able to add to their work throughout the week.
We will be using a very easy movie-making application on iPads called Cute CUT Pro. If you have an iPad that can run it, we would like you to download the free version now (and bring YOUR iPad) so you might become familiar with it. The Alliance (again through the generosity of the Daniel Foundation) will provide you with a download code for CuteCUT Pro if you email Tara in advance (firstname.lastname@example.org) to request it. The Alliance will have at least 13 iPads to be shared among our group of 18 participants, so we are truly hoping some of you will bring your own devices. Whether you have your own iPad or not, you can get some familiarity with Cute CUT here: http://www.mobivio.com/cutecut/help/ipad/index.html
You will upload your videos (in order to copy them onto your video brochure) to a Google Drive as part of a Google Classroom. If you have a Google Account with an email address different from the one we are using here, please let Tara know as well.
We hope you will extrapolate the content when you get back to your classroom, to your own studies, concepts and content.
We are providing some inspiration and some technique.
YOU will be the one to write your own story!
